Stop, Drop & Roll!

On Tuesday morning LG1 were very excited to meet two firefighters from the Nanango FIre Brigade! One was wearing his firefighting uniform with thick gloves, a helmet and a heavy oxygen tank. He looked and sounded a bit scary, but now we know that if a firefighter ever comes to save us we shouldn't hide!
We also found out how important smoke alarms are in our homes. Did you know that when we sleep our noses go to sleep too? We didn't!

If we're in bed and there's a fire in our house we all know how to...

GET DOWN LOW...
(To get out of the smoke!)
...AND GO, GO, GO!
The firefighters were so impressed that we all knew the
Emergency Phone Number ~ 000

We practiced STOP, DROP and ROLL!
(If our clothes ever catch on fire we won't run around!)
The firefighters are bringing their fire engine to school on Monday morning and we can't wait! Parents are also welcome to come along.

Happy Birthday to You!

On Friday we celebrated Mason's 6th Birthday.
We really enjoyed the yummy cakes. What a great end to our busy week!

The Magical World of Crazy Science

On Friday morning LG1 were extremely lucky to watch an amazing show 'The Magical World of Crazy Science'. We had such a great time and wrote all about it in our writing journals. Here are the highlights from the show.
We had to wait to get into the hall so we made a class train.
Look out, here come LG1!

We met Richard, the crazy Scientist.
He's so funny he's even performed for Billy Connolly, Shirley MacLaine and the King of Sweden!

Richard showed us how to make...

Elephant toothpaste!

He taught us about Polymers.

And we learnt about tornadoes.

The Air Cannon was amazing!

90 children couldn't blow out the candle...

But 1 Air Cannon could!
Wow!

Our favourite part of the show was Unbelievable Bubbles.

The bubbles started off small...

And got bigger...

And more unbelievable.

Until Richard brought out this...

We all agreed that the Magical World of Crazy science was a fantastic show. You can tell by looking at our faces how much we enjoyed it!

We can't wait to try some of Richard's magical, crazy science experiments in our classroom!

Our Excursion!

This week was very busy in LG1! On Wednesday Davina's mum helped us with our Writing Journals, Thursday was excursion day and on Friday we enjoyed a Science show in our school hall. Mason's mum also came to school on Friday to help us with our Push/Pull posters! We all agreed that this week was the most exciting ever!

On Thursday morning we walked to Pioneer Park where we played...

and before morning tea we pushed...

and we pulled.

After morning tea we played some whole class pushing games...

and some whole class pulling games.

Our favourite game was the tug of war!

Although we'd had a big day, we still had one more thing left to do. We got off to a shaky start and had a few falls...

but with just a little bit of help (thank you parents)...

we were skating (and scooting) on our own!

LG1 would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who helped out in LG1 this week, especially on our excursion. Our excursion helpers were Josh's mum (and his little brother), Reggie's mum, Michael's mum (and his little brother), Luke's mum and dad (and his little sister), Tiana's mum and of course Mrs Mulcahy! We had a great time and we couldn't have done it without you!
